Food & beverage

Process lines, cold hold and packing, with the batch still in view.

The plant

Most food plants already generate the numbers. They live on a panel, a chart recorder, or a book the line supervisor keeps. Industrial IoT puts one process line, the tank that feeds it, and the cold hold — if the product needs one — on the same shift screen, and keeps the excursion with the batch.

Factory dashboards

Each plant type has its own view. Open one.

Where a first line usually starts

  • A cook step leaves its band and the next person to know is the lab, after the lot has moved.
  • Cold-hold doors are open for a reason nobody wrote down.
  • Energy per run is the monthly bill divided by a guess.

Process temperature

A probe at the cooker, malaxer or pasteuriser discharge. That point is the critical control the shift already watches.

The main drive

Clamp vibration and current on the motor that stops the line. A stop becomes a work order instead of a note.

Cold hold, only if it exists

Air temperature, humidity and a door contact. Left off for a dry-goods plant.

From the sensor to the action

  1. 01

    Sense

Process temperature, tank level, drive vibration, line energy, and hold temperature and door where the product is chilled.

  2. 02

    Connect

The gateway at the line polls Modbus and publishes engineering units. The firewall does not accept an inbound connection.

  3. 03

    Platform

Readings stay with that factory. A simulator reading stays marked demo data until a gateway is commissioned.

  4. 04

    Insight

Time outside the thermal band, drive stops, and kilowatt-hours against output for the run.

  5. 05

    ERP action

An excursion is shaped into a quality note on the batch and a maintenance work order. The exchange is commissioned with the implementation.
